Manufacturing jobs are back in Fortis.
The manufacturing hub is once again thriving with companies moving production to the region.
The Fortis Business Forum held a conference call with investors today to discuss the economic benefits and challenges of the region’s rebound.
According to the conference call, the manufacturing sector was once again the best performing region in Europe in terms of job creation.
The industry created more than 1.2 million new jobs in 2015, and nearly 3.2 percent of the population worked in the manufacturing industry.
The growth in the Fortis manufacturing sector is also expected to continue in 2016, according to a statement from the Fortiscopium Corporation.
The company noted that the number of jobs created during the year were up from the previous year, while the number that were lost was down.
The Fortis Manufacturing Forum will continue to work with government and private sector leaders to create jobs, the company said.
The manufacturing industry has been the focus of a federal government-led effort to boost the region, which has been hit hard by the global financial crisis.
According, the Federal Reserve has committed $300 million in federal funding to help rebuild the region and boost economic growth, and a $150 million infrastructure investment plan is under way.
