A 14-year-old girl who contracted a rare illness from a Bemis manufacturing vaccine has been admitted to the state hospital, the state health ministry said today.
Dr. S. Sivananda, who heads the department of neonatal medicine at the State Medical College in Malappuram, said the girl was admitted to a hospital in Pithura, around 100 km from Chennai, on March 25, and was later shifted to the private hospital in Chennai.
Dr Sivanandi said the condition of the girl, who is being treated in the private ward, was stable and stable.
The state health minister said that it was the first case of a child contracting a BES vaccine related disease from the manufacturing process of the vaccine.
He said it was an important first case.
The girl is being cared for in the hospital.
